Lailoken, a man of the woods, seeks to preserve God's truth in the crumbling Roman civilization. Lailoken becomes the spiritual mentor to Artos, pointing him to Christ. After Artos witnesses the destruction of his father's vision, Lailoken is the one who reminds him that "the One who gave the vision still calls..." Through each event, God is preparing the individual, and a people, for His purpose. In a land plunged into darkness by Saxon raids, Lailoken finds the glimmer of hope in God's mercies.
