Brotus, a British scout, is a member of Artos's original mounted cohort. He meets Artos, his new commander, in Arfon where Artos receives his first command under King Ambrosius. Throughout the spring campaign, Artos and Brotus gather vital intelligence about the Saxon's positions for the British camp. Brotus is attracted to Artos's spirit of vision despite the overwhelming Saxon odds. After joining Artos in his mission to defend the British people, Brotus proves to be both a true and loyal friend. During a climactic Saxon conflict, Brotus's own courageous character is defined in his heroic stand, "We give no more ground!"
