“…can I get a blue gel and one C47?...”
Ethan is an artist from western New York - he has been drawing, creating, and loving it for as long as he can remember. Aside from his recent involvement in films, he works as senior graphic artist for a software consulting business, doing work both state-side and with international clients. His other passions include digital painting, website design, chalk art, 3D animation, poi, piano, guitar, languages, writing and other means of artistic expression. Ethan has also been to Romania and Finland, on several life-changing ministry trips.
His job as Director of Photography on the Pendragon team definitely brought many adventures – "all in a day’s work on the film set..." – one of his favorite was “hanging out the back of the truck, as it's bombing down the field shooting a galloping horse chase…”
From the first lighting setup to the final shot, Ethan was always busy on set. Night shoots were often especially hectic, as the crew fought to finish the shot-list before the rising of the sun. “Still, there’s a feeling of euphoria at sunrise – you’re exhausted, but when you know you’re done, it's a tired sort of happiness from shooting all night…”
In the post-production phase, Ethan also served as visual effects supervisor, creating or enhancing many of the film’s elaborate period sets, such as the village of Dubrinium or the stonework of Arfon’s castle walls.
