“Awesome! One more time…”

Chad Burns is a graduate student in the Ph.D. program at University of Illinois, where he is studying control systems under his advisor (who graciously gave him some time off to finish Pendragon!) In school, Chad has enjoyed working on design teams, several which had national scope. Before the hectic schedule of Pendragon, he also enjoyed playing the violin, reading, and… sleeping…

As the director on Pendragon, Chad was responsible for setting an agenda, and pulling the team together. The all volunteer cast and crew were some of the most dedicated people Chad has ever had the privilege of working with - money can not buy what these people gave. In addition to directing, Chad also enjoyed his role in the film as Lailoken, Artos’ wise advisor.

Working on Pendragon was an extremely intense operation which we all took very seriously… but there were always moments of comedy: “I recall once, when we were shooting the ram at the gate sequence, that the camera lens needed cleaning. But the camera was on the crane, and through great effort the crane had been located on top of our tallest turret – so the dirty lens was out of reach – until the tallest guy on set – that would be me - stood on top of the ram on tiptoe to wipe the lens. It was an odd moment with all the burly torch-carrying Saxons waiting to crush the gate, while I stood on their ram and cleaned that lens...”
