“A little pain never hurt anybody!”
Aaron Burns is currently finishing up a bachelor’s degree in business and music from the Oakland University Honors College. He leads the college music team at his church, and is the advisor of his church’s campus ministry. In pre-Pendragon years, Aaron enjoyed improvising on the piano, waterfowl hunting, music theory, eating, and goofing around with his friends.
Aaron has always had a crazy imagination. As the director of Production Design, his work on Pendragon gave the opportunity to fulfill many of his most fantastic dreams. “Let’s do a movie set in the dark ages…” Whether assembling and arming a barbarian army, filming a sword fight in a flaming camp, shooting a live-action horse chase, or building a full scale fortress and then destroying it with trebuchets and a battering ram – Aaron loved dreaming up big ideas and working with the team to carry them out.
“It has always been one of my dreams to score a film…” Aaron also really enjoyed sharing the composer/music supervisor role with his sister Marilyn. “It was amazing to hear our own theme music being recorded by a string orchestra!”
While being a ‘movie star’ on Pendragon was not always the most fun job, Aaron remembers, “There were those really thrilling moments when the adrenaline was pumping – thundering through the forest with four horsemen on your tail, swinging two steel blades full-speed (in the dark) at someone’s head while they’re swinging one at yours, lighting yourself on fire, then taking a running start (through the mud) to leap “over” a five foot flame…yeah…”
Aaron always brought his wacky sense of humor to the set—trying (with varying levels of success) to keep difficult situations from getting too intense!
